Sardar Pav Bhaaji, Tardeo - Mumbai

'★★★★' A Cheesy & buttery bhaaji affair. That was such a long day and honestly, I was feeling like I was going to lie down anywhere soon. That might be because after shopping at colaba and then eating at Noor Mohammadi (Review coming soon) and then going to saradar paavbhaji made me tired, but it was more like a combo of excitement to eat at sardaar and anxiety of the day. My wife loves paav bhaji so much that she can eat it every day. My friend Akash told me about this place and I was so much wanting to eat there.

Chef making bhaaji

We reached at around 6 and already this place was full. In the first 10 minutes, I didn't understood their method of serving. This place works a bit differently. They serve paav bhaaji to 50-60 people only at a time. The next lot waits outside for their turn. They make fresh bhaaji while the guest sits to get served. They don't serve outside their restaurant but they have take away service. While standing outside in que waiting to get seated in next turn, i saw the their process of making bhaaji. They have two big bhaaji pans for the preparation. The chef started from scratch i.e. by mincing freshly cut vegetables along with all the masalas and water/juices. Continuously he was mashing everything and within 15 minutes it almost got ready. But wait. The Best part is yet to come. The BUTTER !!!. I saw the amount of butter they use in bhaaji. OMG I haven't seen someone throwing so much of butter in one serving. Half Kg of Amul butter for 5 servings i.e. 100gms butter for a person. In the background, the paavs were being fully dipped in butter.

Serving paav & Bhaaji

After 20 minutes the first lot left and we were seated. We ordered 1 amul paav bhaaji and one cheese paav bhaaji. There were two servers, one for paav & other for bhaaji. The bhaaji person came inside with 30-40 plates and placed a plate in front of everyone. Then the server with a big mountain of paavs came. You have to see the pic to understand the scene. The amul bhaaji plate was topped with butter and the cheese one was covered with, obviously CHEESE and nothing else.

Paav Bhaaji

This was hands down our favourite paav bhaaji and its deliciousness made me want to pursue a side job of just eating this dish every day. That's a slight exaggeration of amul bhaaji but yes this one was particularly boss on both the flavor & buttery fronts. Coming on cheese bhaaji , each bite of this bhaaji was a spicy and tangy flavor bomb with a kick of creamy cheese.

The paav got a quick full soak in amul butter before it was toasted. I was able to bring out the butter by just slightly pressing it. the only thing I didn't liked in paav was that they were not properly toasted on tava. Other then this, sardaar pav bhaaji was heavenly, satisfying, feel good food and it was kind of paav bhaji that made our best bhaaji eating goals meet. Lastly: My wife use to luv paavbhaji from sukh sagar & shiv sagar but hands down the paav bhaaji which this joint serves is simply buttery awesome. The flavours were great, so go on give it a try. The delight you will experience when you will take first bite of this bhaaji (only Along with butter paav), can be exhilarating and soothing at the same time. I am certain that you know some other good joints who serve good paav bhaaji in mumbai but for us , this has been on the top of our list. The only issue was the waiting time. But it was worth it. It's a suggestion for the owner to be more courteous. We didn't find him nice to people. (P.S.: They serve only PAAV BHAAJI).
