800 Degrees, Mall Of Emirates - Dubai
'★★½' After 3 hours of non-stop excitement and thrill in snow world located in the Mall of Emirates - Dubai, we headed straight to the food court. But who knew we have to walk miles to hunt for our food. After 20 minutes, walk there was no trace of the food court so finally we decided to sit in any restaurant, but every single place was overflowing and had a waiting time of a minimum 45 minutes. '800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria' was the only place where there was no queue.
'800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria'
The place was simple and clean. The tables were studded with white beautiful marble. The best part was a big live platform where we can see the making of the pizza from the scratch which starts with the creating of a dough until it gets ready, so we can look and customize it simultaneously by choosing the base to the cheese and topping.
'Neapolitan Pizza in making'
Until now, I have seen sandwiches and burgers getting assembled live, but this one was a treat to watch. Their preparation and variety of cheese, vegetables & sauces were just mesmerizing. The video here will describe the working of this place.
'Live Making of pizza'
To be honest, when I saw the menu, I wanted to order my all time favorite thin crust pizza but I wanted to try something new as well. Therefore, we ordered two customized Neapolitan pizza. Unfortunately, I should have stuck to my gut feeling as I didn't really loved it. Now, what actually is a Neapolitan pizza? I am sure, many of us haven't tried it here in India coz we all love the crunchy thin crust and thick crust pizza's. But this one is a totally different experience to try. As soon as the pizza is customized with all the sauce, cheese (mozzarella cheese, buffalo mozzarella, and parmesan ) and preferred toppings, it is put into the flames for max 90seconds.
'Wood Oven'
As a result, everything gets cooked quickly but the crust remains super soft. Our 1st selection of toppings were onions, capsicum, jalapenos, paprika and later was onion, tomatoes, and corns. The whole process took 10 minutes and it was a treat to watch.

'Neapolitan Pizza'
When the pizza arrived, it looked marvelous. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it coming. Not just me, I could see everyone just drooling over it.
As soon as we tried taking a bite, everything just slipped down because the base was super soft and ready to melt. I mean literally, every topping just fell down before we could take a bite from it. We should have seriously used knife & fork. We were informed that a Napoletana pizza is best with minimum or no toppings but Margherita was not everyone's pick. The aroma and texture of woody smokey flavor was something unique. The taste was not that great as the sauce was a little bland and missing its spices. It didn't taste as good as it looked.

'Live Pasta Station'
We later ordered penne pasta with a tomato cream sauce, broccoli & onions. It was also prepared live within a glass chamber. Our hands were already messy coz of those wetty pizzas so none of us dared to touch our phones to click pasta image. Coming to its taste, which was decent if not superb.

'Napoletana pizza margherita'
Lastly: This restaurant is a must visit place if you want to see the whole procedure of making a pizza. It is undoubtedly expensive which cost about 4000/- for 2 pizzas and a pasta with a coke. The taste is definitely different and one might have to get used to Neapolitan/Napoletana pizza. I don't have any grudges over the pizza coz these are pretty famous in Italy. There will always be a taste/cultural difference between two places and here I can easily give it a benefit of a doubt. The environment is very lively and the chef/servers are very friendly. We may like our pizzas to be more crisp and crunchy but these Napoletana pizzas are meant to be soupy in texture. (Our Tip: Don't add any toppings)
