Cafe 21, Preetvihar - New Delhi
'★★½' We popped into a small cafe located on the service lane of Preet vihar. Its quite difficult to get a parking in there. The place is small & hygienic with a bakery section on one side & the sitting area on the other. One can always have a look at the variety of cakes, pastries & cupcakes at the bakery section.
'Cafe 21'
As we got seated and had a look at the menu, we noticed that it's just limited to salads, pasta, pizza, burger & wraps excluding beverages. We ordered a veg caesar salad, simply veg pizza, sloppy joe burger (lamb) & cold coffee.
'Caesar Salad'
We started with a caesar salad. It looked heavenly which made us more hungry. It was full of healthy lettuce with added olives & crispy croutons. It was fresh and Yumm. All the ingredients were delicious but it was the dressing and the parmesan cheese that made it so lovely. The salad was crispy and cheesy which gave the right level of savouriness anyone need after a long day.
'Simply veg pizza'
Next was simply veg pizza i.e. onion capsicum and tomatoes. We asked him to minus tomatoes topping as per our preference. It looked nice & BIG. The onion & capsicum topping added a bite to the pizza. The taste of the pizza sauce on the base could have been far better which would have really elevated the dish to another level. The pizza was palatable, nothing to shout about.
'Sloppy Joe Burger'
As the name suggest, sloppy joe burger has a loose meat filling rather than in the form of a binded tikki which makes it somewhat really messy to eat. Similarly, the burger I ordered had a minced lamb filling along with onions, cheese and sauce. It was accompanied by crispy fry and a dip. The fries were crisp and tasted fab with the dip, wish I could say the same about the burger which was just average. Nothing to shout about. Moving onto the cold coffee, we found it to be somewhat of a disappointment. First of all the cold coffee was not cold enough so it didn't felt refreshing in it's first sip. Secondly, It was bland with too much froth. The rich flavour of the coffee and the sugar was missing which made it taste like a bland milkshake.
Lastly: Cafe 21 is best known for its delicious cakes and pastries. Usually, I order cakes from here only, as no bakery around Preet vihar delivers extremely fresh and good quality truffle cake. However, this place is specially for students. No such ambience to talk about. The place is pretty small and the server seemed not interested and he didn't had any knowledge of the dishes on the menu. He was not able to suggest us any good dish or its speciality. Surely not going to stop ordering some pastries but will avoid eating here. I was going to give it a 2 but +.5 for its bakery.
